At the ordinary meeting of the above Board held on Thursday, September 7th, 1893, it was decided to extend the time for receiving tenders for altering the grade at Round Hill cutting. George Gibson Davidson was appointed to the offices of poundkeeper and ranger. The tender of Messrs Boyd and Keir for timber for the Gorge bridge was accepted. The clerk was directed to call for tenders for ploughing and levelling ridges on roads, also for grazing the recreation reserve for twelve mouths. Formal notices to clear gorse were ordered to be sent to several occupiers named. Notice to be sent to Mr Upritchard, senr., re spoil from drain opposite his section on Hodgson's road. Accounts amounting to £78 la 6d were passed for payment. The usual monthly meeting of this Road Board was held at the office, Yaldhursc, on Monday, the sth inst. From the Inspector of Police, re stray cattle, stating that prompt action would be taken against offenders. From the Hon. -Win. Rollestoii and Steward of Education Reserves, as to the acquirement by the Board of a. small portion of reserve 1162, Waterholes road, for a gravel reserve. In view of metalling the roads in this vicinity, the Chairman and Clerk were empowered to purchase a suitable site for a gravel pit, in addition to negotiating with respect to Reserve 1162. Froni the manager Waimakariri water race asking the Board to sanction the construction of an open crossing in the South Road opposite R.S. 5480 in lieu of existing culvert, in order to ensure a more regular water supply to Messrs G. S. Phillips, Hinton, and McLeod. In reply the Clerk was directed to ask who would be held respousible for the formation and maintenance of the said crossing, and to report thereon at the Board's next:meeting. From Mr A. W. Simpson as to disposal of his property to Mr Shirley, for which lie desired the removal of his name from roll ac owner. Granted. A report .upon reserves and gravel pits was submitted by the Clerk, and after some discussion instructions were issued to have all pits cleared of gorse and broom, and call upon the tenants to fulfil the clause in their lease aa to eradication of gorse, &c, now growing on their respective occupations. The surveyor was directed to invite tenders, returnable next Board day, for metalling Cross road and Barters road, and after , passing accounts amounting to £108 17s, and disposing of several small matters, the meeting adjourned.
