» . The Rev, J. T. Hinton, of Dunedin,. exPresident of the New Zealand Baptist Union, has arranged to serve the Christchurch Baptist Tabernacle for three weeks, commencing with Sunday next, and the Rev. Harold Peters, pastor-elect of , the Wang'anui Baptisb Church, wili follow him. Tne Rev. A. North, of Dunedin, one of the ablest men of the denomination, and C Daliaston, of Wellington,. late of Christchurcb, have both signified their desire to assist the Church as far as their own pastoral duties will allow. Mr Maitland Gardner has accepted the appointment of choirmaster at St. Mary's, Merivale. The annual parish gathering of St. Mary's, Merivale, will be held this evening at the Schoolroom, PapanUi road, at 8 o'clock. ' The Hon. Lady Superintendent of the House of Refuse acknowledges with thanks the gift of a perambulator from Mrs Tancred. . J Mr G. W. Russell, one of the candidates for the - Riccarton seat, will address the j electors at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lincoln I road, to-morrow at 8. ■ I The Morris Tube competition for the trophy presented by his Worship the Mayor was continded at the drillshed last evening, when the Christchurch Martini-Henry Rifle Club beat Messrs Wigram Bros', team by 20 points, and the Sydenham Working Men's Club beat the Addington Oddfellows by 25 points.
