RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.
WED2T-SDA-.
Another fine morning, such indeed as did not require even Dower's best to stimulate one, saw operations commence about eight, the tasks generally being of a light description. The Masham lot, the first to wort, were given steady pacing, bat the Chokebore trio, Awaraa Rose, Melusina, and Retina, each traversed a round fast. Vogengang, Sheila and Erin-go-Bragh also put in a good round, the old grey being left by the two chestnuts at the finish. Clarence, about whom vague rumours were afloat yesterday, showed no signs of lameness daring, a couple of circuits at restricted pace. The horse looks well. Jock led Balquither in strong work, and Despised finished the last part of three miles strongly. Tbe Idler came right away from First King at tbe end of a mile and a quarter, while Waylaud and Master Royal put in strong work over two round*. Stranger, with Mr O'Rorke in the saddle, likewise going fast for the latter portion of his exercise. Jafia by himself went a round at threequarter speed. Tiritea, in the course of his work, negotiated the hurdles. He seems to have thriven on the heayj tasks allotted him, and will strip as fit as anything in the big race. Bide-a-wee, who is looking well, moved freely over two miles at a good pace, and Roseguard travelled a like distance, seemingly anxions to increase the half which she was kept. A canter for a couple of rounds was all that Norton was asked to do. The top weight looks to the eye in capital trim. Steady exercise was the allotment of BeboU Mutiny, Waterbury, and S.nuggler, the l«tßa_ied of whom seems Ughtheorted and well, Kapua going, twice round at a eood striding pace. Galtee and Rothamstead fluttered home the lost mile of their work, the latter having the best of It. Long steady work was given Unity, and Empire, who after accompanying Bide-a-wee in his work, completed another round by himself. Matchless was kept at steady
exercise as was also Solomon, Jos Sedley and Laurence, bat Royal was ridden oo.the last part of a round. Eulnine covered two rounds at half pace. Black Hawk and Dunoon went strongly for a round; the little hurdler is looking very muscular and goes with his usual determination. Aonugsm in the coarse of half pace work negotiated several of the schooling fences in a proficient manner. Mount Cook, with his owner up, was also jumped, his stable companion, Bell Bird, negotiating a couple of the flights of hurdles. Muckross had Perki i for a companion in fast work. Jacob Faithful went freely over two miles. Wildfire and Cassandra did steady work. Gondolier, who is sore, was on the walking list, and Cajolery was an absentee. Invader, a new arrival, was worked during the forenoon. Robin was not on the track in the morning. Roger did half-pace work, and was given one jump.
