CYCLISTS' ALLIANCE.
The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists' Alliance was held last evening at the Pioneer Bicycle Club rooms, when there were present Messrs W. B. Eyre (in the chair), W. J. Waller, F. J. Dunn, Julius, J. C. Cusack, W. J. S. Hayward, Milner, E. A. England and H. J. Moss, Hon. Sec Mr H. J. Pither's record for 100 miles, 6hrs 59min, was passed, the* informality in the application when previously before the Alliance having been rectified.
The Chairman reported it had been -arranged that Messrs H. J. Pither, C. H. Jones and F. G. Simpson, who challenged Mr C. E. Hall's right to oe included in the team to be sent to Australia, would compete at Lancaster Park on Friday next, and the winner would meet Mr HaU at Timaru on the Thursday following. A letter was read from the local manager of the Union Steamship Company, stating that twenty-five per cent, would be allowed off the ordinary return fare for the members of the cycling team going to Sydney. The Hon. Secretary stated that the machines would be taken over free. The offer of the Union Steamship Company was accepted with thanke. The Hon. Secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association forwarded a cheque for £5 5s towards the expenses of the team, and the Hon. Secretary of the North Canterbury Bicycle. Club wrote stating that £5 had been voted for the same purpose. The donations were received with thanks. . . The Hon. Secretary reported having supplied certain information asked for by Mr Reynolds, the Auckland representative in the Australian team. *' , A letter was read from the Hon. It would be quite possible, however, for a Five Mile Championship of Australia to be ; run off on the same day as the Five Mile Championship of New South Wales. The letter was received. The meeting was then adjourned.
