ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society was held yesterday »ft*fnoon at the becretary's office. Preseat— Messrs W. G. Meddings (in the chair), A. M. Ollivier, R. T. Searell, A. Scott, Qm. Humphreys, and Profersor Haslam. On the motion of Mr Scow, the minute. of the proceedings of Jnne 22nd appear jog after tbe motion for adjournment, which had been carried, were expunged from the minats book. Oa the motion of Mr Ollivier, it was agreed to confirm any action the Secretary might have taken upon resolutions pasted after that for the adjournment. Mr Scott moved, Mr HcsiprtßETt seconded, and it was carried—"That ,th& whole question of the solicitorship be fa. ferred to a Committee, consisting of the\ President, two Vice-Presideuts, Professor Haslam, and the mover, to report at ths next ordinary meeting." Mr Searell moved — "That in tfa« opinion of this meeting it is uuciesir.bis that any paid officer of this Society shall have a seat on the Council." Mr Scott desired the matter postponed until there was a larger attendance, *sd also because he had not time to stop to ewr> aider it. After a little discussion Mr Scott retired, and Mr Searell withdrew tbe motion torn fuller meeting. Mr Searell then moved—"That JUessrt F. W. Hunt, W.-.T. Alpe. F. J. Jackson, G. B. Ritchie, H. N. Raider, S. B. Seyifioaf aud J. N. Haaier be appointed to tat vacancies on the Council." This was agreed to. Mr W. H. Spackman wrote resigning his position as Solicitor to the Society and member of the Council, and explained way it had been previously considered detirsWf that the Solicitor ought to be a member ci the Council. "Mr Spacknian's resignation was accspt«4 with regret, and a resolution was recorded expressing the Council's recognition of hf> services in the cause of aeclimatisat'ea. The Council passed several accounts fa payment and then adjourned.
