ST. ALBANS COUNCIL AND OFFICE ROAD.

TO TIIK EDITOR OF THE PHES3. Sir, —Kindly give mo space in your valu. able paper to draw the attention of the St. Albans Council to tho disgraceful state oi Office road. I would recommend members of the Council to take a walk in that direction in order that they may understand.

There is a lamp on the footpath near the St. Albans end of Office road, but it is of no good whatevor to persons who are walking towards Papanui road. The trees and hedges have ueen allowed to grow out to such an extent that they positively obscure the light of the lamp altogether, besides making the footpath, which only extends about halfway along the road, a great deal narrower than it ought to be, the consequence of which is that it is impossible for two to walk abreast.

This is a state of things which ought to be looked to at once, as tlie winter is coining on. If wo cannot havo a proper footpath all along the road, let us at least havo the trees and hedges cut so that we may boo the light of the lamp aud know whether we are walking ie mud or on dry ground.—Yours, Mkriiy Vamb.
