MEETINGS OF CREDITORS
RE HARPER AND CO. The adjourned meetings in the estates of Messrs T. W. Maude, George Harper Leonard Harper, and of Harper and Co. were.held in the Land Board Room, on Monday, "April 17th, at 11 a.m. The Official Assignee presided. There were present Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, Messrs Bruges, Wynn-Williams, Nalder, A. C. Rolleston, Wilding, Slater, Spackman, S. Barker, W. P. Cowlishaw, Hallamore, H. J. C. Beswick, E. S. Harley, E. J. Ross and A. E. G. Rhodes.
Mr T. W. Stringer appeared for the Official Assignee. The Official Assignee said that it would be necesssary to have all proofs in, as he imagined that resolutions would be passed at that meeting. He understood that a number of gentlemen had received powers of attorney and had not yet sent in proofs. Mr Cowlishaw said he imagined that the creditors were waiting the result of the application for a consolidation order before sending in their proofs. They did not wish to make more proofs than one if one would be sufficient.
The Official Assignee replied that the Judge had not yet been able to make up his mind about it. He was consulting the Chief Justice, and would give his answer as soon as possible.
Mr Cowlishaw asked what it was proposed to do that day. He imagined it would rest with the Official Assignee upon the business to come forward, upon the report or reports, if any. The proceedings would doubtless be guided by them.
