ALLEGED ASSAULT.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 10. Goodman, a recently created J. P., was charged this morning, at the R. M. Court, with assaulting Jatnee C. George.; Goodman was further charged with using profane, ituleceut and obscene language in a public place. George gave evidence that the defendant struck him on his bask in front of the Government Buildings aud used the words, "I am still alive you ; " "I will pull .your nose next time you iusult mc in your office ; " "I'll kick your ■." In cross-examination plaintiff admitted that he . had some days before told Goodman that he was very disgusted with hfs action in signing an affidavit to the effect that the.Grar.ci Jury would not bring in a true bill in rV dummyism cases, which was insiiltinrt tho c mmuuity." The case was adjourned until 2.30 p.m., wheu the Justices said they considered that the offence was of a trivial nature and dismissed the information. A similar decision was given in the case of using obscene language against the same defendant.
