THE FATAL GLOVE FIGHT.
(press association telegram).
AUCKLAND, May 10. At the Police Court to-day the recent glove 6ght at the Zealandia Rink was investigated, John Nicholson being charged that on the 4th April he did feloniously kill and slay Richard Campbell Forgie, while Lindsay Cook, Richard John Sanda'.l, Wm. Bums, John Wakefield, Wm. McMinaman, John McConneU, Wm. O'Meara, Fredk. J. Partridge, James Saxon, and Frank Burns, were charged with having aided and abetted him to do so. The stakeholder, J. Gallagher, hotelkeeper, deposed that the agreement declared that the gloves used should be Boz ones, the usual size allotted by law. No objection or warning had ever been conveyed to him by the police that he was doing anything wrong in acting as stakeholder. Evideace was given by Constable Hutchinson concerning the fight, which he thought a fair fight until the time he stopped it. He did so then because he considered it brutal. The other witnesses were Constable Lamb, Dr. Lindsay, and Forgie's brother. The case was then adjourned until to-morrow.
