Tuesday, May 9. (Before H. J. Hall and E. C. Latter, Esqs., J.P.'s.) Drunkenness.—Donald Fry, for drunkenness and riotous behaviour in Gloucester street, was fined 10s on each charge. Thos. Walter Dixon was remanded for a week for medical treatment. Larceny from an Employer.—Albert Oppenheim (14) was charged with stealing Bs, the property of his employer, William Maine, on May Bth. He pleaded " Guilty." The prosecutor said the boy had been in his employ for three weeks, and during that time he had missed money. A watch was set by Detective Benjamin, and the boy was caught in the act of taking money from the till. The accused said the only occasion he took money was on the Bth. The Bencb convicted the accused, and discharged him on the understanding that he behaves himself. A Kxeptomaniac. — Maria Harper, a half-caste aged about twenty-one, was charged with stealing 12 yards of dress material the property of Annie Adams, of Papanui, on the 7th instant. She pleaded "Guilty." Inspector, Broham explained that the girl was a kleptomaniac; she had taken the goods from the shop while the prosecutrix was temporarily absent. The accused said she suffered from her head, or she would not have taken tbe goods. She was not in want. The Bench remanded the case till Thursday in order that the police could make inquiries as to what could be done with the girl. (Before R. Beetham, R.M., and H. J. Hall, J.P., Esqs.) Civtl Cases. —Baggs and Duffy v Broad - ley, claim £6 10s, as commission on the sale oi a coach, horses, harness, &c. Mr Bruges for plaintiff, Mr Kippenberger for defendant. The defence was that the property had not not been placed in plaintiffs' hands. Judgment was for defendant with costs. Judgments went for plaintiffs by default with costs in Edwards, Bennett and Co. v Ricketts. £27 lis 9d; Trustees of City of Christchurch Lodge v Tomlinson, J63 4s 3d ; Crump v Mills, £1 6s ; and Scott v McAllister, £40 10a Bd. Bell and Robinson was adjourned till May 16th. Cole v Hawley till May 23rd, Walters v Bennett till May llth. .
