I The report was adopted. | The Works Committee reported that the i tenders were recommended for acceptance f of Messrs W. White and Co. for Umber and a W. Homer horse feed. J M The report was adopted. f| The Lighting and Sanitary Committee !t recommended that tenders be invited for the f removal of nighteoil. Referred to the Finance Committee* The Town Clerk of ChristchureUiwete that a Conference of delegates cA ioefcl bodies waa to bo held at 3 p. n>, on Thursday, 18th May, at tho City Couflcil Chambers to consider the uilvisableneas of purchasing or taking over the C&nteriwy tramways, and the St. Albans Council were asked to appoint delegates. The Councillors generally being of opinion that it was not desirable for local bodies to purchase or take over the tramways, tho meeting decided that there was no necessity to send delegates. A long letter was read from the BawWU Assembly of the Knights of Labour, complaining that certain answers received f?os the Council were inapplicable to the questions submitted. , It was resolved that the Clerk should simply acknowledge the receipt of th» letter. The Eiccarfcon Road Board wrote tMI upon completion of a footpath bQtw««a Marshall's bridge and Mod vale roidoatM Boundary road, that Board would pay £20 towards the cost. It was decided that the Clerk of the Council and the Board be request** :*ff inspect the road. On the motion of Cr. dumsx it was resolved to request the Church ft&pmy Trustees to abate a nuisance on their ptfr perty in Manchester street within fonrwso days or the Council would abate W«w charge the Trustees with the coat. Cr.
