(VBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS). WELLINGTON, May 8. A change is about to take place in the arrangement for the administration of the Public Trust Office. ' Business in the Westland district is to be raised to the same position as Canterbury, and to be placed in charge of a district agent, who will be stationed at Greymouth, and hold a eimilar position to that of the district agent for Canterbury stationed at Christchuich. The -dispute amongst the Natives at Galatea has blown over. The police at Ruatoki were ordered to go over and look into the matter, but when they arrived the Maoris had disappeared. Dr. Newman addressed his constituents to-night. He made sympathetic reference to the late Premier, and strongly urged the Government to go in for baying and opening up Native lands as the best thingthat could help the progress of the colony. He received a vote of thanks and confidence.

DUNEDIN, May 8. George James Eden was charged to-day with obtaining £21 by false pretences. A remand for. a week was granted. It was stated that the accused arrived here lately from Melbourne, and victimised people to the extent of hundreds.

About 100 unemployed assembled to-day at the Town Hall to meet the Mayor and city members. Forty-eight married men and six single, whose name 3 are not on the books of the Labour Bureau, gave in their names, and the Mayor telegraphed to the Premier, pointing out that some of the families were in distress, and asking if speedy means of giving relief could be adopted.
