LINCOLN.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Monday', May Ist. Present—All the members, Mr Overtoa in the chair. Correspondence was read from Messrs Harman and-Stevens, .relative to.closed road. The Clerk was directed to attend to same at once. It was decided to order a small quantity of each kind of poisoned Wheat ironi Mr Brooke. Mr Alsop moved, and Mr Prebble seconded—''That the Selwyu County Council be asked to endeavour to get all the Road Boards in the county to t&ke concerted action during the year for the suppression of the small birds by r poisoning, and the purchase of heads and eggs. ,, A petition was received from Mr C. Thompson and others asking the Board to gravel a portion of Harwood and Thompson's road. To staud over till summer.' The Board here adjourned for thff annual meeting. After which the Returning Officer announced that Messrs Overton and Sinclair, th«s retiring members, bad been returned unopposed. Mr Prebble proposed Mr Sinclair a3 Chairman, Mr Overton seconded the motion. Mr Sinclair declined to act and proposed Mr Prebble. Mr Alsop seconded, which after some skirmishing was accepted. The Chairman proposed" a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring Chairman, which was seconded and carried, and Mr Overton returned thanks. Mr Win. Boag interviewed the Board, and asked -for assistance towards draining a swampy gully bounding his section. The Board decided that in face of the resolution recently passed re drainage they were unable to assist Mr Boag. Tenders were opened for cleaning Sharp a and Mefarten'a drain, and that of G. Fuller was accepted. Eight tenders were received for painting cottages, and John Bradley'a tender was accepted. Mr Feryman moved, and Mr Sinclair seconded, "That a halfpenny rate be struck for; the current year." The 'Chairman was in favour of a smaller rate. - The motion was carried, the Clerk to give the necessary , Resolved— That a gate be erectect at Reserve 214 to sxevent the constant taking of gravel doting
I wet weather, the Clerk to nee his discretion in giving permits for gravel. The letter of tho Tai Tapii Road Board re cart bridge over the Halsweli river was then discoued, with the result that the Clerk wag instructed to write to the Tai Tapn Boatfd asking for plans and probable cost of structure. Accounts £110 5s 8d were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
