TEMPLETON ROAD BOARD.
. The monthly meeting of this Road Board was held on Monday, tho sth' inst. Pre-sent—-Messrs Carpenter (Chairman), Bailey, Taylor, Marsh and Carr. Correspondence was read—From the Springs Road Board, for information as to the measures to be taken by this Board in the suppression of small birds during the summer months. Erom the Lincoln Board, stating that they were purchasing heads and eggs at 2d per dozen. The Clerk reported he had replied in both instances, stating the steps this Board was taking in the matter. From the Charitable Aid Board, forwarding a list of recipients of aid out of the Board's funds, and requesting the Board to allow same to be available for public inspection. From Messrs J. Dillbway, F. Holmes and E. Peagram, re purchase of land comprised in recently stopped roads, agreeing to pay costs of conveyance. From Mr A. W. Hancock, intimating his intention of erecting additional buildings on land in his occupation near the middle Lincoln road, for slaughtering purposes and boiling down business, and enquiring if it was necessary to obtain the Board's permission before putting the work in hand. The Clerk waa directed to reply that the mere erection of such buildings was quite beyond any interference from ..the Board, but that he must guard against creating any nuisance in carrying on the proposed business. The Surveyor's report was read and approved. He was directed to procure a quantity of stone flags, also three additional trucks of Kaiapoi sand for dressing footpaths ; to call attention to damage done by water-race on Hampton's road, and execute necessary repairs thereon. The Rate Collector's report showed a large amount of outstanding rates, ani instructions were issued to advertise thr.t legal proceedings for recovery would be taken against defaulters after the 21st inst. Accounts amonnting to £132 2s lOd were passed, and the meeting adjourned.
