THE RUN ON A SAVINGS BANK.
THE PANIC AT AN END.
Ptom AsaoeUiion—Electric Telegnph—Copyright Sydney, February 12. The run on the Savings Bank has continued to-day, though the excitement has lessened, and the demands on the Bank have not been so continuous. The panic is believed to have originated by aa Anarchist haranguing a crowd of the unemployed. Members of the Seamen's Union and seafaring men were among the first to remove their accounts.
The ran on the Savings Bank has ceased. Altogether £124,000 has been withdrawn. To-day three more Banks, including the Bank of New Zealand, offered assistance.
