SYDENHAM PUBLIC SCHOOL.
Last evening & highly successful concert was given in the Oddfellows' EEall, Colombo road, in aid of the Sydenham school prig* fund. There was a crowded attendaptjpe, dnd many were unable to gain admission. Mr J. L. Scott, Chairman of the Committee, occupied the chair, and Mr T. S. Weston, Chairman of the North Canterbury Boarc of Education, was also present. The firei part of the programme consisted of a Maypole dance by the infants; the football song, "On the Ball," by the school fifteen j a hornpipe by Master Gray ; song, " Come to the Hills/ by the VL Standard girls anc "Father O'Flynn," by Mr W. McD. West; boating song by the VI. Standard girls, and an exhibition of dumb-bell exercise by th< fifth standard boys. In the second part th< operetta " Bed Biding Hood" was per formed in a highly creditable and pleasing manner. The cast ijras as follows:—Riding Hood, Florrie Dowle; Mother, Miss Forrester ; Woodman, Mr W- HaU ; Wolf, Charlie Throp. The orchestral music wat supplied by Misses Joyce, piano, and Maud HaU, violin. Considerable praise is due tc those who carried out the arrangements, &&, for the concert, For the Maypole dance the infants were trajned by Miss Hall, Mr Dalgleish taught tap boys thefootballsong, Mrs Bowmaker the girls' fiongi and choruses, #pd Misses Hall, Dynes, and Forrester were chigfly responsible for the success of the operetta, To T>a*X¥V Gmt Hazx. <~-&opkyer* sulphur Hair Beetorer is the quick«i»t, beet, safest; costs less, effect* more than any other.
