On Tuesday we published additional entries for the Trial Steeplechase and Plumpton and Sockburn Steeplechase, to be run at the Canterbury Plumpton Park's forthcoming meeting. These were Regalia for the Trial, Iroquois and Druid for the Plumpton Steeplechase, and Druid for the Sockburn Steeplechase. The entries were received by registered letter, Out as the contents of such registered letters were not available till Monday morning, and the other lists were closed on Saturday evening, the Committee of the Piumnton Park Racing Club decided at a meeting yesterday aftern.on not to receive them. Vanguard, the N.Z. Cup and Dunedin Cup winner of 18S4-85, is at present up here. His owner, Mr J. Spence of Oamaru, brought him up on Tuesday from that neighborhood, where Vanguard has been at the service of mares for the past two seasons. He in now bound for the North Island (whither he proceeds today), Mr Spence having received a substantial guarantee for his horse to serve mares in the Egmont district during the season which commences on September Ist.
A Wellington telegram says : —The principal payments over the United Hunt Club Steeplechase Meeting are—W. E. Bidwill, £61 los; J. Dennis, £38; J. Maitland, £33 ss; S. Rooke, £23 los. Smaller amounts advance the total to £247.
