ROAD BOARDS.

WEST EYRETON.

The monthly meeting was held on May llth. Present—Messrs Crysell, Hunter, Sheat, and Smith. Letter was read from the Returning Officer, stating that Messrs John Addinell, Adam Hunter and Steven Sheat were the only ratepayers nominated to fill the three vacancies on the Board, and were declared duly elected members of the West Eyreton Road Board for the ensuing term. Mr Sheat apologised for the absence of Mr Addinell. Mr Sheat proposed and Mr Hunter seconded, that Mr John Addinell be elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Carried unanimously. Mr Crysell proposed and Mr Sheat seconded, that Mr Hunter be appointed Chairman for this meeting. Carried. Letters were read from the Eyreton Road Board, stating that the Eyreton Road Board was willing to co-ope-rate with the West Eyreton Road Board in, having a survey made and a report furnished of the cost and feasibility of carrying out the water-race scheme advocated by Mr Dixon. Mr Smith proposed, and Mr Crysell seconded —That in conjunction with the Eyreton Road Board Messrs Mclntyre and Lewis (licensed surveyors) be instructed to make a survey and furnish a report and estimate of the cost of carrying out a waterrace scheme. The intake to be from Brown's rocks and the water to be taken to the highest possible place on the bank of the river Eyre. Carried. Mr Dixon was present and handed. in a cheque for £20 towards defraying the estimated cost of survey. Hospital Board, stating a levy had been made on the West Eyreton Road Board of £34 8s for the maintenance of hospital for the year ending March 31st, 1891, payable June Ist. The Under Secretary to the Treasury, enclosing forms for the returns of receipts and expenditure for the year ending March 31st, 1891, which were ordered to be sent as requested. Mr G. Shorland, offering to supply strychnine for poisoning wheat at a low rate. Resolved —That the Chairman be requested to take such steps as he may deem necessary to supply poisoned wheat for the destruction of small birds in the West Eyreton Road Board district. The Clerk was directed to invite tenders for leasing the reserves for seven years under the same conditions as last term. Mr O'Farrell, registrar of dogs, paid in £10 12s 6d on account of registration fees. Accounts amounting to £6 lis 4d were passed and ordered to be paid.
