RHODES CONVALESCENT HOME.
The monthly meeting of Committee was held at the office of the Home, Cathedral square, on Wednesday evening last. Present—Messrs L. Harper (Chairman), P. Cunningham, T. Acland, and Fredk, Strouts, Hon. Secretary. An apology for non-attendance was received from Mr W, G. Rhind.
"The Secretary's report was read and adopted.
The report showed that during the past month twenty-three patients had been received and eighteen had left the Home, and that there were thirteen at present in the Home.
Certificates from medical practitioners were received, speaking in complimentary terms of the Lady Superintendent's qualifications as a " masseuse," and it was resolved that patients be admitted to the Home for the purpose of undergoing the " massage " treatment, and a moderate scale of fees was fixed for such treatment.
With reference to further easing the grade of' the road leading to the Home, the Hon. Secretary was instructed to enquire into the matter, with the view of getting assistance to execute the work during the winter. The following donations were reported: — Mrs Dalston, Papanui, sack of apples; Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, two cases apples and pears; Rev. C. O'Bryen Hoare, box of pears ; Mrs Rhodes, vegetables and fruit; Mrs G. Hart, fruit; Mrs Walker, Sydenham, flowers; Mr Fereday, fruit and flowers; Mr H. J. Ainger, illustrated papers; Mr W. M. Lewis, English papers.
The monthly accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting separated.
