ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

Wednesday.

With the exception of pigs, small entries were the order of the day. Sheep were not nearly as numerous as was the case a few weeks back, and with the decline of store sheep, and the cessation of the lamb sale, sheep returns are falling oil considerably. In accordance with the new regulations, the sale of pigs was started punctually at one o'clock, and though buyers were hardly as numerous as ia generally the case, at the start of the pig sale, a gradual increase took place till about half an hour after starting. There was a full attendance. The new system of selling was generally favorably commeuted upon, as it allowed buyers to make their purchases and get their stock away within reasonable time.

Fat Cattle—About the average number yarded, with orices on a par with last weeks. Nothing oi special quality was noticeable, and as usual inferior steer and cow beef was in the majority. Best beef may be quoted at Ids to i&*6d, and iuferior from 13s Gd. Messrs H. Matson and Co., associated with the National M. and A. Stork Cattle.—Considerable improvement was noticeable, both in the number aud quality of to-day's yarding. Several lines of eighteen-month and two-year-old steers attracted considerable attention from buyers, aud though prices were not satisfactory from aa owner's point of view, numerous sales were effected. The usual number of old cattle changed hands, as also did a line of yearlings. Dairy cattle were not numerous, aud as the demand was dull the sale dragged considerably. Messrs Todhonter and Jennings sold for clients, Iβ IS-months' old steers at 275, 24 do heifers at 265, 9 2-year old steers at £2 Bs, 0 18-month steers at 375, 11 do at 275, about 40 odd lots at current rates.
