SYDENHAM.

A meeting of the School Committee was held on February 3rd. Present—Messrs J. Forrester (Chairman), F. C. Hajl, J. L. Scott, W. J. Ruda, W. H. Meikleham aud E. Jones. An apology for absence was received from Mr T. _. Asquith. A letter w-s received from the Board of Education stating that six of the eleven pupil teachers that had passed the fourth year would be required at the Normal School, and asked the Committee to take steps to till the vacancies. It was resolved that the remaining five be retained in the school for another twelve months. Mr Jones reported that several works authorised by the Chairman of the Board had not been carried out, and that the ram was still working very unsatisfactorily. Resolved that the attention of the Board be directed to the matter, and that application be made for two cupboards for upper staudards in the girls' department and a screen for the large upstairs room, as owing to the increased attendance it has been found necessary to place the Y. and VI. standards in that room.
