SUMNER TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the above Board was held at the Town Board office on Tuesday evening, 3rd February. PresentCommissioners Wheeler (Chairman), Kitsou, Hayward, Gilchrist, Monck, Tait and Mills. Mr Gilchrist brought forward his motion as to the hours and mode of bathing on the beach, when the following rules proposed by him were agreed to. Ist. That bathing with proper costume, that is, dress from neck to kuee, be allowed on the beach at auy time. 2nd. That bathers must make provision for proper dressingrooms, as on no account will undressing and dressing be allowed on the open beach at any time. These rules being formed under the powers given to the Town Board under clause 18 of the Sumner bylaws. Moved by Commissioner Gilchrist, seconded by Commissioner Hayward— "That 590 copies of the by-laws and regulations be printed, some of them to be posted -up in conspicuous - places, to be seen by the visitors to Sumner." Resolved — That several of - the angle stones at street corners .be replaced by larger ones and painted white. 'The Engineer's report was read and approved. Mr Gilchrist gave notice that at the next meeting he would bring forward the question of creek improvement, and submit a scheme in that direction. He moved that a Sub-Committee be formed to draw up by-laws. Commissioner Tait moved that the question of by-laws be deferred for the present. Carried. Treasurer's statement—Receipts since last meeting, £67 7s Od ; payments passed last meeting, £6210s lid: Bank balance, £3 14s lOd; in hand, £217s 8d; outstanding rates, 14s 6d: contributions, £15 7s 6d; footpath rates, £510 so d; maintenance tram Hue, £25.
