LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Council was held on Monday night at a quarter-past seven, there being present—His Worship the Mayor, Grs. AUwrlpcht, McLellao. Thompson and Briee. - Cr. MoLellan moved, and Cr Thompson seconded,—" That a special order be made for the purpose of taking over and declaring a certain private street {Cavendish road) to be a public street on and after the 3rd day of February, 1891, and that such resolution be confirmed at a special meeting of the Ooancit on Monday, the 2nd day of February, 18&1." : v The ordinary fortnightly meeting met at 7.30 p.m. the same ni«hfc,' there being present—His Worship the Mayor, Ore. They ttelton Borough School .Committee wrote, saying that they had decided to charge the sum per year of Is rent, for the fire escape platform from the Colonists' Hall to the school ground. Cr. Brice-moved, and Cr. Thompson seconded—" That it be agreed to." Carried. From the Clerk the Heathcote Road Board, asking the Council to supply-the township of Heathcote with water. Cr. Brice moved, and Cr. AUwrigbt; seconded — "That it be left with the Water Supply Committee, to report on at neat meeting." From Mrs Bailey, asking to have the water laid into her premises la Dampier'a Bay. It was agreed Chat the work be done. The report from the ,-.Water Works Engineer Was read and adopted. The Finance Committee's report -was read and adopted. Accounts amounting to £10039 lid were received since last meeting, including rates, lls3d; water, jgfelfe; rents, £97143 2d. The Inspector of Nuisances* report was read. The laspeetordrew attention to a defective drain in Jackeoa's road, and the work of relaying the drain was left in the Foreman of Works' hands to proceed with at once. Toe Foreman of Works'report was read, and it was agreed to obtain another 100 yarde of metal from the Governor's Bay road.
