CANTERBURY TROTTING CLUB.
The annual general meeting of this Club was held at the Al Hotel last evening, when the following members were present:— Measre Mcllwraith (in the chair), King. Mace, Marr, Mulholland, Derrict, Barnes, and Walker. -The minutes of the previous meeting were read and conilrmed.
The Treasarer (Mr King) read the balance-sheet for the year, showing a credit of £96 Bs. After the Chairman had complimented the Club upon tbe sound financial position, a letter was read from Mr King, asking to be relieved of the Treasurership. stating that want oi time compelled him to ask to be relieved of the duties. Regret was expressed by several members present, and ultimately Mr King consented to act again, a decision which met with general approval. Presidents, Messrs EI Blake. M.H.R, and J. C. N. GrigK; Judge. Mr Boag -Committee, 'Members of the Club/ It was unanimously resolved that the election of Stewards should not be made till next meeting, as the Club would by that tame:be strengthened by the election of a number of new members and ie wa* thought that the appointment of stewards but little interested in horses running would be advantageous. The names of quite a number of gentlemen wishing to be elected members were mentioned, and the Chairman and members spoke hopefully of the promises of support from different sources. It was resolved that members should pay their subscriptions on or before May Ist and that new members.should pay on election. The consideration of drawing up a programme for the next race meeting was left to the Committee. Votes of thanks to retiring officers were carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned.
