Seven miles of the Railway line are now impassable Steamers are waiting to carry off the defenders when the water bursts through the embankments.
Received April 18th, 8.80 abb. Sydney, April IS, The town of Bourke is still above water. The value of the property at stake is estimated at £1,000,000 sterling. Received April 19th, 1.23 p.m. Sydney, April 18. Information was received tonight that Bourke is flooded and everyone is doing the best to save themselves. Boats are being pulled through the streets rescuing people from their homes. The night is very black and dark. No details are yet to hand. Walgett is in a terrible condition and an epidemic of fever is feared, owing to the stench arising from dead animals.
