TIMARU HARBOR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Timaru Harbor Board was held yesterday. A letter was received from Mr Darling, reporting that very unsatisfactory progress was being made with the tug, owing to various causes, and the Engineer's work had also been delayed by. the second cylinder having to be condemned, but good work wus now being done. A letter had been written to the .Railway Department, respecting the Board's liability under agreement respecting the contractor's line to the Wai-iti quarry, pointing out that as the line was being used, not for the purposes of the Board, but of the Railway Department itself, the Board ou-Kht to be released from liability. A reply was riow received from Mr Lowe, for the Department, saying that the, Board could not be released.
