THE INFLUENZA.
A prisoner, named James Holmes, now undergoing sentence in Lyttelton _gaoi, was to have been brought before the FoUce Court yesterday oh several charges ot forgery, but a certificate was handed to the Bench from the Medical Officer of the gaol, stating that the man was too ill to attend. The case was reananded for a week. It is stated that a large number of the prisoners in the gaol are suffering from •* la grippe." Two of the warders Iv the gaol have also been attacked, and have been very, ill. The Railway Department have for a while lost the services of some of their employees through the same disease.
