CRICKET.

TO THB EDITOR OF THB PRBSS.

Sir,—l have read with pleasure your able article re cricket match New South Wales v Canterbury. With one exception I think little requires to be added to encourage lovers of the good old English game to turn up in good old English fashion to witness the same. I. am certain if the names of batsmen, as they go in, were posted in some conspicuous place where the public can see them it would do a great deal to popularise such matches. One moving about among the spectators constantly hears grumbling for want of such knowledge, and I think the local Cricket Association would do well to adopt the suggestion. Hoping you will kindly find space for this gentle hint. —lam, &c, Wag. Lyttelton, sfeh February.
