(Before Mr R Alcorn, J.P., Mr D. Williamson, J.P., and Mr O'Shea Lawlor, J.P.) Indecent Exposijhe. — Isaac Tweedy was brought up upon a charge of indecent exposure. Several witnesses gave evidence , that the case was a very bad one. Prisoner was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labor. Alleged LARCENY.—James King was brought up on remand, charged with the larceny of a watch and chain valued £10, the property of Edward Burke. Edward Burke stated that on the 28th and 29th January he was staying at the Royal HoteL He saw prisoner there and told him that he had missed his train and was going to walk to his work. Prisoner suggested that witness should first have a sleep and asked him to lie down in the chaff honse. Witness had a sleep and when he woke up he missed his watch and chain. Prisoner denied any knowledge of it when asked, and witness informed the police, that his watch and chain had been stolen. He identified a watch and chain produced as his property. Charles Physick gave evidence to being in King's company on the 29th, King wanted to sell a watch and witness offered him £1 for it. Prisoner eventually sold him the watch for £3. Witness immediately gave it into the custody of the landlord of the hotel. He identified the watch produced as the one he obtained from prisoner. Prisoner told witness that the watch and chain had belonged to Burke. Henry Davies, licensee of the Royal Hotel, stated that Burke had complained of having lost his watch and chain, and about six o'clock in the evening of the 29fch Physick handed witness the -watch and chain, which he identified as being the property of Burke. Witness gave up the watch to Constable Reilly. Prisoner was committed for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court in : Christchurch.
