A very pleasing ceremony took place on Tuesday afternoon in the news composing! robin of the Pbess office, when Mr M. The presentation, which was subscribed for by the compositors employed on the Pbhss and Telegraph, was made by the Father of the Chapel, in well chosen and appropriate remarks, conveying the srood wishes of the companionship for Mr Donnelly's future happiness. Mr Donnelly, in a happy and feeling manner, responded, and in complimentary terms referred to the good feeling which had at all times existed between the companionship and himself, hoping that sit - might long continue. After toasting fhe newly married couple most loyally, the ceremony concluded with hearty cheers for the bride and bridegroom. The presentation bore the following inscription,:—" Presented to M. Donnelly, by the Pkess Notts Companionship, on the occasion of his marriage. July 9th, 1889." A similar compliment was also paid to him by the editorial and commercial btaff, who presented him with a second souvenir in the shape of a handsome silver salver. At the Christchurch Bailway Station on Saturday morning last, quite a large and representative gathering of employes took place to wish bon voyage to Mr James Quinn, who has occupied the position of a porter for some years, and to make him a presentation as a mark of respect and esteem, ebony walking stick and a pipe, both silver mounted, together with a tobacco pouch and match box. Mr Quinn has lately been transferred to Wellington, and during his service at Chrietohurch had completely won the goodwill of all who knew him. Thepre sentation was made by Guard Fowke, who in a neat speech referred to Mr Quinn's many good qualities. The recipient feelingly responded in a few words. After a general handshaking the, party dispersed, all regretting his departure, both as a friend and a fellow employe.
