A GUN ACCIDENT.

AUCKLAND, July 10. Yesterday forenoon gun accident occurred at Waiheti, by -which Edward Davenport, a lad of thirteen, lost his life. Davenport and three sons went ont shooting about ten o'clock. One of the boys laid, the gun down in a bush of briars. Shortly afterwards one of the deceased's brothers said " Don't forget to bring the gun." The deceased went to the bush, drew the gun towards him with the right hand, when the gun exploded, the charge of shot entering his breast, coming out at bis back. He walked a few steps, calling out "Father, father/* when Davenport caught him in the act of falling. The lad was carried to a house half a mile distar*. and expired immediately afterwards.
