J. R. King and Co. report for west ending June 23th on the live stock and Eroduce markets:—The usual sale ol orses, cattle, pigs, poultry, general merchandise, farm implements and pro* duce was conducted in our yards oa Saturday last. The day was somewhat unfavorable, but notwithstanding this tbe largest assemblage of buyers collected to* gether that we have seen for .some considerable time. The entries also far ex* ceeded our expectations; so great was the demand for space we were compelled to improvise pen accommodation for the whole of a special entry, which by-the-bye formed such a feature of the sale. competition was manifested for every line submitted, and, as a result, we are able to record one of the most successful aalee that we have conducted for some months. Tho demand for pigs is fully sustained* Baconers aud porkers especially find favot with buyers; us owners of this class of stock dispose of their surplus supplies they are again purchasers of the smaller class, and, as a result, prices hare advanced accordingly. Horses—A much larger entry than usual, and •olft remarkably well. Cattle were also better represented than on the previous market day, and brought prices that produced many an ejaculation that Addington WM not the only market for cattle in Canter* bury. Poultry was in full supply; the demand was equal to the supply, as ever? line sold at prices slightly better than the two previous market days. Grain and Produce—The wheat market is still In a state of stagnation, buyers are holding off. Their recent speculative purchases have been followed oy a continued fall la values. Oats — Holders have this week offered more samples than for some time past. This disposition to sell on the pan of holders causes buyers to operate more freely, hence good business has been done during the week. Barley nominal. Bye I grass and cocksfoot show a slight Improve, ment. Potatoes Indicate an upward ten* i dency. The Sydney market is open _tabsorb at the old rates. Onions—The market supply te practically exhausted. We cannot attaett a fixed value. The last we sold was at £18 per ton, delivered in the store. The following are the present ruling values :-» Tuscan wheat, 3sod to 3s 6d j Pearl, St w to 3s 3d; Hunter's. 3s to 3s Id; chick wheat, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Oats-Malting, 29 9d; good feed, 2s 8d ta2sßd; thin sample*, 2s 5d to 2s 6d. Rye-grass—Farmers samples, 2s 6d to 3s; machine-dressed,«» cocksfoot. 2_d to 3£d. Potatoes at country stations, 57s 6d to 60s; cheese, 4d to od j hams and bacon, 7_d. The prices are *U f.0.b., with the exception of potatoes. Livestock quotations—Hens, Is 9d to»j 6d; roosters, 2s 6d to 3s 9d; ducks, At od to 4s; geese, 4s 6d to 5s 3d ; ttt'keya, mto 12* 9d; pigeons, Is 3d to 3s 6d; pig*, from 6s 6d to 20s; porkers, 22s to 395, baconers, 41d per lb. Dairy cattle brougnß for inferior ones, 37s 6d, 60, 655, and for fairly good ones, 755, 85s, 90s, 105s; a two-year-old lot of mixed steers and beifert brought in lots 32s Od, 37s 6d, 42s 6d, 659, and 70s each; yearlings from lis ud tows. Horses—A nice lot of colts and fillies sold from £8 to £11 each.
