SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
EAST CHRISTCHURCH.
The East Christchurch District School Committee held their usual monthly meeting on Thursday evening last. All the members but Mr Sandstein were present, Mr J. S. Williams in the chair. The Head Master's monthly report was read, including the returns of attendance for the quarter just ended. Mr Scott asked for the list of reading books to be used after next examination. It was resolved to apply to the Board of Education tor the same; also to again call the Board's attention to the insufficient size of the drain pipes from Infant school, Gloucester street. Mr Scott forwarded a list of children who attended less than half tim 6. The Committee resolved to enforce the compulsory clauses of the Education Act at an early date. Mr Parkes gave notice that the next meeting he would move —"That a Committee be appointed to report on the working of the Main School." After passing some accounts the meeting adjourned.
