[By Telegraph.]

[TBOM OUR CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, July 6. The following are the battery returns for the past week: — Keep-it-Daxk —2170z amalgam from 165 tons. Globe—l76oz amalgam from 190 tons. Inkerman —185oz amalgam from 40 tons. Inglewood—66oz amalgam from 60 tons. Scotia —The mine manager reports:— " Since my last the mam level has been driven 12ft, making the total distance 148 ft north of the winze. At the present time the reef is making in the face of the level, there being 6in of stone on the hanging wall and 4in on the foot wall, whioh, I think, will make into one. No. 1 stope has been carried over the main level, a distance of 90ft, the reef ] being from 18in to 20in, and carrying very j good gold. No. 2 stope has also been carried north of the winze 50ft. the reef about the same width, and carrying very good gold. We are now rising for another stope, and there is no change in the width of the reef. As we are going up with the uprise I have levelled the distance from No, 2 winze, and find about 12ft will take the mam level right to the winze. There are now 104 tons of stone, in the paddock." s. Sir Francis Drake—The mine manager reports:—" Since last week's report the level has been driven north 7ft. The reef has cut out and broken into a leader at the south end. I have run the leaders out.. I put off two men on Thursday last. I have three shifts working in the level at present." Hard to Find—The mine manager reports :—-" I have driven tha level a distance of 14ft for tho week, making tbe total distance driven since striking the reef 20ft. For the last 6ffc the reef was very thin, but it is now opening out again. The stone was>very good up to where it got thin, and then it got a little poorer. I have, according to your instructions, surveyed a line from the mouth of the tunnel to the Scotia tramway on a dead level, and I find that the tunnel is 2ft above the Scotia tramway. The distance is 15 chains. There will be 84ft of trestle work across the Scotia creek. The height from the creek to the level of the tramway is 27ft." United Alpine—The Directors met daring the week and decided to discontinue the eastern cross-eat, whioh has been driven a distance of 91ft without meeting the trace of (stone cut in the main tunnel, and which if it lived should have been intercepted at a distance of 40ft. It is now determined to continue the main drive on its original course north, and it is the opinion of many that this course will disclose the reef at a distance of about 150 ft, and with anything like fair ground that length can be attained in about five or six weeks. The contractors for the winze have made a start, cutting out a chamber. The ground is wet and hard, so that progress is but slow. The repairs and alterations to the battery are going ahead rapidly. ■_ \
