(.PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEfIBAM.I AUCKLAND, March 6. The University Senate to-day read the report of the Finance Committee, which showed a credit balance upon inoome and expenditure account of .£l2O, whilst the balance to credit of general account, on first of January last, was J22809 17a and t c credit surplus in the Boholaxebip Account was JH-&J- It was resolved that Junior Scholarships of JJ'AQ annually and six Senior Scholarships of the value of £w be offered for competitiott'ia 1889. On the recommendation of the Committee on the Medical Course and Gilchriat Scholarships the following candidates were declared to hare passed the first professional examination:—A. Henry, E. Roberts, J. Newail W. Buteman, E. Hogg. J. Torrance, J. F. Menziea. Second professional "yyfi tion— a. E. Fookea, W. H. Chappie, B. B. Cook, W. nielop, W. Mullen, J. BcicL Third professional examination, with degree of M.B.—Gh A. Copeland, H. C. Bar* clay, W. ;. Deermer. : A request in a petition from medical students, that there be two. "logical examinations each year, was declined. The second request of the petition, that &B preliminary medical "•gg.roiTq #-tfj<m of Otago University be recognised ac entitling to registration for New Zealand degree, was also declined. Eobt. B. Williams, of Tale University, United States, applied to be admitted to the ad eundem dejfree of B.A. The queetion of act eundem graduates from foreign and colonial Universities not included in the statutes was remitted to the following Committee for consideration during the reeesss:—The Chairman, Vice-Chancellor, Archbishop Bedwood, Rev. W. J. Habeas, and Dr. ocGregor. It was ordered that regulations foe the course of dentistry remain for the present as presented.
