ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN. ; The ordinary meeting of this Board wal held on the 4th insfc. Present—Messrs H. W. Peryman (Chairman), R, Aiken, J. W. Overton, J. Hodgen and J. Sharp, Mr Wallace interviewed the Board re some cattle of his sold in District Pound on the 3rd December, 1888. The Poundkeeper was called in and cave a statement of the sale, which showed a credit balance of £7 15s 3d. Mr Wallace was informed that the Board would require satisfactory proof that he was the owner of the cattle at the time of sale, before he received payment. Mr Wallace said the Board had set him a difficult task, and retired. Cop* respondence was read from the Treasury, stating that the sum of £64 9a 3d, 75 per cent. of subsidy due, and 10s od rates on Crown lands had been paid to the Board's credit. Prom the Property Tax Commissioner forwarding statement of values of real property for inspection, and asking the Board to carefully examine same, with a view of detecting errors or omissions. The Clerk was instructed to undertake the work. From the Selwyn County Council notify* ing that a special meeting of the Council will be held on the 11th iust. to inspect the County rolls, and asking that any mistake* in Lincoln roll be forwarded. Agreed to. From Mr J. £. March requiring particulars of the cottages erected by the late Provincial Government on Reserves 343 and 208. Information forwarded. From the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Jubilee Exhibition, soliciting subscriptions. Received. From Charitable Aid Board forwarding list of persons in receipt of relief in the district, and notifying their intention to supply quarterly statements in future. It was pointed out that two of the recipients were not in the district and others not entitled to relief. The Chairman said he would make a note of it and report. The Clerk's report was read and considered. Re gorse on Ladbrook's roadResolved—That the fence be levelled If Mr McCarthy declines to clear away the gorse. Re pound — The ponndkeeper's offer to continue in charge for a term of three years under the old regulations wat declined. Tenders to be invited for the office, returnable on the Ist April. The tenders received for keeping clean the district drains for twelve months were declined. Fresh tenders to be invited bj next meeting. Accounts to the amount of £124 Is Id were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned. SPREYDON. The ordinary meeting of this Board wy held at the office on Thursday, all (he members being present. Bβ letter from Sydenham Council, with reference to Dale's offer to cart shingle, deferred from last meeting, the Clerk was instructed to reply. With reference to Mr Hopkins* letter re Drainage Board matters, deferred from last meeting, after discussion the letter was ordered to be laid on the table. Correspondence was read—From Mr Pender (in reply), re boys bathing in Kiver Heathcote. From Government, forwarding statement of values for ensuing three'years, to be open for in« epection. It was resolved--That the Selwyn County Council be Vvritten to with reference to the desirableness of removing the dam across the Heathcote River at Lincoln Road Bridge, the same being detrimental to the drainage of the surrounding land and to the public health, especially the Spreydon School. The Cleric was instructed to nave the creek through Packer's land cleaned. Accounts amount* ing to £55 3s 3d were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
