CHRISTCHURCH. Tujesdat, November 27. [Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.] Using Obscknk Language. — Kate Baldwin, for using obscene language in High street on the previous night, was ordered to be imprisoned for forty-eight hours. Larceny.—James Lynn (15) pleaded guilty to stealing a silver watoh valued at £2, (he property of John Burgess. The prisoner stole the watch while on a visit to the house of the boy to whom it belonged. He broke it up, and afterwarde tried to exchange the remains for a shanghai. It appeared that he had been convicted before of petty theft, and had two younger brothers, against whom there was a like record. He was remanded till Thursday to allow the police to try and place him with some guardian. Prohibition Order.—On the application of Sarah McKinley, regarding her husband, Malcolm McKinley, an order was made prohibiting publicans in the Christchurch district and suburbs from supplying him with intoxicating liquors for the period of one year. Crvii. Cases.—Regina v Slater, claim £24 4s 6d for costs, under guarantee, incurred in the arrest at Adelaide of Wm. Radcliffe, an absconding debtor. Mr Martin for the Crown, Mr Gresson for the defendant. In this case, heard and fully reported yesterday, Mr Whitefoord now gave judgment against the defendant for £11, the amount incurred at the instance of Constable Stunner, who, he said, must be presumed to have been acting in the interests of the creditors. As to the costs incurred through the mistake of the Adelaide Magistrate, £13 4sod, Mr Slater could not be held reponsible for them. Costs of Court only went with the judgment. Judgments ' went for plaintiffs by default, with costs, in D.I.C. v Manson, £1.17s lid, and Bank of New Zealand v Dunbar, £6. In Bond v Ruddy, a suit for possee-sion of premises, defendant did not appear, and he was ordered to give up possession forthwith, and pay costs of the Court,
