[press association telegrams.] WELLINGTON, October 10. At a meeting of the Stewards of the Wellington Eacing Club this evening a letter was received from the Stewards of the Island Bay Eacing < lub, stating that as the change in the tenancy of the Island Bay course prevented their continuing operations, they were anxious to recompense their late Secretary, Mr G. Donne, for his loss of office, and they had hit on the expedient of tendering him |a complimentary race meeting if the Wellington Eacing Club would place one of the racing tracks at their disposal :\rf the purpose. It was unanimously decided to allow them the use of the Island Bay course for a one day's meeting, tc be held on the 4th December. A man named Michael CDriscoll was arrested this afternoon on a charge of threatening to stab his son, Cornelius O'DriscoU. WANGANUI, October 10. All the New Zealand Eifle Association's material, stored at Blenheim, has been destroyed by fire. The insurance is unknown. The stables belonging to Mr W. J. Keith, at the back of the Racecourse, about a mile and a half from town, were burnt down to-night. Fortunately there were no racehorses in the building. There was one trotting horse, however, burned badly on the back. The cause of the fire is not known. It is not known whether the place was insured or not. WELLINGTON, October 10. In the Supreme Court Crotty, charged with larceny, was acquitted. Richard Cheeseman, for forgery and uttering, pleaded guilty. On the application of counsel that he should,be placed under Probation Act, lie was remanded till Saturday for the probation officer's report. This closed the criminal list. DUNEDIN, October 10. In the Supreme Court in the case of Bank of New South Wales v Brown (member for Tuapeka), judgment was entered, by default, for J8799, the amount of an overdraft.
