[PSK PRESS ASSOCIATIOK.] ' Beoelved October 10th. 9 pja. Stdnkt, October 10. The Port Darwin cable is interrupted, and it is believed to have been broken by the repairing steamer Sherard Osbome while grappling for the old cable. The following was received yesterday afternoon from Port Darwin:— •* Sherard Osborne has been at work on the old cable since 2nd inst Being bnried, found difficulty in picking it up. It parted on night of 2nd and 3rd. Weather very thick. Grappling unsuccessful. Theehip returned to Banjoewangie on the sth to see if the duplicate cable was right. Returned to the ground the same day, but has not spoken to her yet. This morning the duplicate cable failed fortyone miles from Banjoewangie. The ship has evidently gone through the new cable while grappling. It is possible she has the 'Banjoewangie end on board^"
