LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.

A meeting was held on September 17th. Present—Messrs Coop (chairman), H. P, Buchanan and H. White. The Clerk's report was. considered. Mr Gebbie apologised for his inability to attend. The Clerk intimated that Mr T—it waited on the Board a week since re tbe piece of road from Gebbie's Pass to his sections, but no meeting having taken place that day tbe Clerk brought the matter before the Board. It was resolved that as a considerable quantity of gorse is on the road referred to the matter be postponed till Mr Gebbie should be present, as the land through which the part of the road lies is on the Gebbie estate, and it was desirable the question of having gorse removed should be settled. Letters were received from Union Bank, Property Tax Department, and Treasury, announcing the payment of balance of subsidy to the Board's credit account. From Mr John—onergaa, asking that some repairs may be effected on Walker's Gully road. The Clerk was authorised to attend to this matter with view to effect the necessary repairs. From Akaroa and Wainui Road Board that tbat body is willing to bear proportion of the cost of necessary works in closing and exchanging of roads in Tarawera Valley, provided this Board will also agree in opening the road leading to H. Smith's land on the same valley. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Buchanan —. "That as the Board referred to has not intimated that it would bear half share of the entire cost which may be incurred in the matter referred to, that a definite explanation on the subject be asked from it, and if satisfactory the Clerk be authorised, to take the necessary steps, subject to Mr White's approval." From the Chief Surveyor, re diversion of road through R.S. 4264. It was resolved that if Mr •loblin will not sign an agreement sanctioning this exchange that the Board take steps to have the land put through the Public Works Act, aud the road forced through, as provided by the said Act, such steps to be taken after the next meeting of this Board. Mr Buchanan applied that the Board may clear gorse on the road passing through R.S. 7869, 18851 and 18352. It was resolved that after the provisions of the section of the Public Works Act bearing on the subject have been complied with that the owners of the sections mentioned receive the necessary notice to clear said gorse. Relative to repairs to Kaituna valley road, the matter of attending thereto was left in the hands of the Clerk, aud that Mr Buchanan be authorised to let part of Okute Valley branch road (Black's section) for formation at a fixed price or under. Relative to Lake Lands Bill, the Chairman intimated that at a public meeting recently held, at which Mr McGregor attended, it was carried that the said Bill in its present state be approved of. After passing accounts for payment the Board adjourned.
