Beetham, Esq., R.M.] ___»——t- - on Premises. —An old man, named Benjamin Taggart, who was apparently suffering from the effects cf excessive drinking, was charged with being found, without lawful excuse, on the premises of John Perry, in Stanmore road. He was cautioned and discharged. Miscellaneous. —W. L. Smith, for leaving his horse and cart beyond his control in Hereford street on September sth, was fined 10s.—A case against Jane Kennedy, for whom Mr Corr appeared, for using obscene language in Holly street, St. Albans, was dismissed with a caution.— William Young, charged with failing to provide for his wife Mary, agreed by his counsel, Mr Stringer, to pay her _1 per week, and an order was made to that effect, he to find sureties for compliance with the order. Mr Martin appeared for the wife. —Michael Hart, charged with deserting his wife and family, did not appear. Mr Joynt, for Mrs Hart, proved that he had absented himself from home for nine weeks, and that for a long period he had wasted his earnings in drink. He was ordered to pay £1 15s per week towards the maintenance of his three children. An order was also made prohibiting publicans in Christchurch and suburbs from supplying him with intoxicating liquor for the period of one year.— Thomas Stewart applied fer the recisicn pf an order of the Court by which he had been adjudged to pay his wife a sum cf £1 per week fer her separate maintenance. Mr Stringer, for the applicant, produced evidence showing that the wife had misbehaved herself with another man. Mrs Stewart, on her part, proved that her husband had misconducted himself with another woman. The existing order was cancelled, and Stewart was ordered to pay his wife 10s per week for the maintenance of their child.—Mary Hopkins was charged with having failed to provide for her illegitimate child, who had been left in the care of Jane Freeman to nurse. Defendant pleaded poverty, and was ordered to resume possession of her cir'ld at once.
