♦ - [By Telegraph.] [from our correspondent.] DUNEDIN, August 31. Walter Gilder, a rabbitter, employed on _u_*B run, near Palmerston, has been missing for eight days. A private cable says coals have advanced in Melbourne to £5 per ton yesterday. In anticipation of a large dividend, there is considerable speculation in the National Insurance shares. Present quotations are 19s 10_d. Bank of New Zealands are steadily rising. The present price is £10 153. _ , . On dU, that negotiations for the sale of a Westport coal business to a Victorian Syndicate is off. The price of JES per share was too high. Later. The report of the falling through of the Westport coal negotiations is contradicted.
