FIGHTING IN UPPER EGYPT.

The position was garrisoned by 200 Egyptians, who offered a stubborn tc--istanee until reinforcements arrived from Wady Haifa. The dervishes lost 200 men in the engagement, whilst the Egyptian loss was sixteen killed and; thirty wounded.
