FIGHTING IN UPPER EGYPT.
[PER PRE— ASSOCIATION.] Received August 31st, 1.30 p.m. Cairo, August 30. Five hundred dervishes attacked Fort Kharmoussa, on the Nile. The position was garrisoned by 200 Egyptians, who offered a stubborn tc--istanee until reinforcements arrived from Wady Haifa. The dervishes lost 200 men in the engagement, whilst the Egyptian loss was sixteen killed and; thirty wounded.
