PIONEER BICYCLE CLUB.
The tenth annual meeting of the Pioneer Bicycle Club was held last night at headquarters. Mr A. Lowry (captata) presided. There was a good attendance of members. The Committee, in presenting its report, congratulated the Club on its continued prosperity. The roll now numbered eightythree active and twelve honorary members. The Saturday afternoon runs had shown a marked improvement, and the closing run of the season was well attended. Touring had also been fairly well indulged in. The report reviewed the racing of the season, and stated that the .meeting at which Messrs F. Wood ajid W, Brown appeared, was a phenomenal success. The thanks of the Club were due to the Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, Messrs G. Gould, P. Cunningham, G. T. White, E. Recce and Sons, Mason, Struthersand Co., E. Wheeler and Sons, A. E. Preece, J. H. Parker, R Kent. L. Harris, C. S. Gill, the Lancaster Park Co., for their trophies and prizes, and also to those members who had from time to time increased the stock of music and literature belonging to the Club. The Club's "Cinderella" was a numerical and financial success. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts had amounted to £599 12s 7d, and the expenditure deducted from that left a credit balance of £120 9s sd. There was a credit balance to the account of assets and liabilities of £187 12s lid. On the motion of Mr Bowxes. seconded by Mr Suckling, the report aud balancesheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as under:—Patron, his Excellency the Governor; President, Hon. E. C. J. Stevens; "Vice-President, "; Captain, Mr H. J. Jenkins; Sub-Captain, Sir J. Alexander; Hon. Secretary,Mr W.Bowles; Hon. Treasurer, Mr A. C. Pattrick; Com mittee, Messrs W. H. Langdowa, F. Cooper, P. G. Withers, C. Myhre, J. H. Parker, C. Recce, and C. S. Gill; Delegates to the Cyclist Alliance, Messrs A. Lowry, C. Recce, F. Cooper, W. H. Langdown, C. Myhre, P. G. Withers, H. J. Jenkins, W. Bowles, J. Alexander. Mr Jenkins took the opportunity to express the regret ?he members felt at the retirement from active office of .Mr A. Lowry, under whose guidance the Club had greatly prospered, tin conclusion he expressed a wish for Mr Lowry's future success, and asked his acceptance of a gold watch as a memento of the esteem in which he was held by his fellow members. (Loud applause.) The recipient, who was undoubtedly taken by surprise " at the turn the meeting had taken," as he expressed it, briefly acknowledged the handsome gift, after which he was three times cheered, and entertained with the appropriate song " For he's a jolly good fellow.' Mr Lowrv and the Club were also presented by Messrs Meera and Co. with two large photographs of the members- of the Pioneer and Christchurch Clubs. The Captain and Secretary were appointed a Committee to confer with deleKates from other Clubs respecting|he date for the opening of the cycling season. The meeting revised the Club rules, fixed the runs for September, and then adjourned after passing a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
