WHEAT STILL RISING. (pee press association.) Received August 30th, 2 p.m. London-, August 29. A cargo of Australian wheat has been sold at 40s, and another cargo of May shipment realised 39s 9d. Seven thousand quarters of Adelaide wheat brought 41s 9d. The heavy rains recently experienced all over England have greatly injured the prospects of the harvest. By the recent disastrous fire at Hamburg, 6000 tons of beet sugar were destroyed, and beet sugar has consequently experienced a slight advance in the London market. Oats, firm at 2s 2d to 2s 4d, feed 2s 4d to 2s 7d. Wheat, milling (local), 4s to 4s Id, chick 2s 8d to 2s lOd. Bran, Hid. Pollard, lid. Butter, local, Is 6d~to Is 9d, imported Is Id to Is 4d. Cheese, local 6£d to 7d, New Zealand 7d. Bacon, local 7d, New Zealand S£d to 9d. Melbourne, August 30. Wheat, 4s 2£d; flour, stone made £9, roller made, £10 10s; oats, 3s sd; feed barley, 2s 10s; maize. 3s 6d; bran, Is Id. Adelaide, August 30. Wheat—There is a steady demand for cargoes at 3s lid to 4s ; farmers' lots, 3s 10d; at Port Adelaide, 3s 9d. Flour, stone made £9, roller made £9 10s to £9 15a; bran, lOfd to lid; pollard, oats, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Received August 30th, 10.20 p.m. London, August 28. The wheat market continues to improve, and latest quotations show an advance of 6d. Eight thousand quarters of Adelaide July aud August shipments have been sold at 41s, and one cargo has been disposed of at 41s 3d. Received August 31st, 1.10 a.m. London, August 28. The new Consols are quoted ab 99J. Copper is quoted at £92 to £92 10s per ton. Adelaide flour 27s 6d. The following private telegram was received in Christchurch to-day, dated London, August 29 th :— " The market is generally better, but there is no alteration in New Zealand sorts.
