The first of the annual elections for- the Licensing Committees of the various districts took place yesterday, and a great deal of interest was taken in the polling. The following are the results for those districts, in which a poll was taken :— CHBISTCHUBCH NOBTH-WEST. B. J. S. Herman ... ... 178 J. V. Boss ... • 146 F. J. Kimbell... ... ... 146 F.H. Barne ... ... ... 140 C.P.Hulbert ...... 185 — Moor ..i ... ... 74 J.L.Boott ... ... ... 72 . J. Lamb ... 64 W. Tremayne ... ... 64 It will, therefore, be eeen that th» Committee for last year have been re-elected by a large majority. The highest of the (candidates nominated by the temperance [party only polling 74 votes, as against 178 ifor the Chairman of the old Committee.
