ACCIDENTS.
Mr John Barnett, of Leeston, had a very .- _ ] narrow escape from a serious accident J Monday/ last. While coming home abiig, < 1 the Leeeton road, a young horse which feY } was riding rolled on a stone, and fell down s | on top of its rider. The fall partly stunned f the Aorse, which laid npon Mr Barnett till : a man passing by resoned him from ? perilous position. Mr Barnett fortunately v , ; escaped with only a severe bruising. 1b» ■ I horse is still considerably shaken. ■- r-~ A rather unusual accident happened tot<4 f - T " a reaper and binder last week, the pro* - '' pertyof Mr Bigden, Greendale. Hie etas %-■ was reaping a paddock of corn, when machine suddenly buret out in names, -* , which spread with such rapidity that the , man, with the assistance of three others, : had the utmost difficulty in rescuing thft horses. The machine was totally consumed. It is supposed some of the bear* ~"- ---ings took fire for the want of oil.
