The statutory meeting for election of a Chairman was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs Coup (Chairman), Moore, Butt, Simpson, Pashby, Taylor, and Oram. Mr Moons, in moving, that Mr Bobert Coup be re-elected Chairman, stated it wsa understood when that gentleman consented to take the position he would be elected Chairman at this meeting, and having displayed eminent qualifications for the office members would no doubt elect him. Mr Butt briefly seconded, and the motion was unanimously agreed to. The Cn——a_r expressed his thanks, trusting to be able to assist in the advancement of the interests of the district. He explained that the amended plan for a' wharf at the end of Bowler steeet, to connect with the siding past the Glass Company's proposed works had been intimated to the Minister for Publio Works. It was moved by Mr Moobb, seconded by Mr Obam —"That the plan referred to, when completed, be signed by the Chairman and (forwarded to the Marine Department, asking leave to erect the wharf." Carried. A notice from the Land Transfer Office : waa read regarding land at the west esd of Baven street taken by the Church Property Trustees. Consideration thereon deferred. Mr Oeam suggested that notice should be given to the Board's present tenants on the south side of the river that the Board ' 'had no title to any land on that ride, and thereby it should relieve itself of any responsibility te them or to any other publio body. Mr Moobb thought this an -impolitic etep to take. Mr Butt disagreed with the suggestion. After a desultory conversation the Board adjourned.
