EAST MALVERN.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held at the officeoin June 2nd. Present-. Messrs Barr, Minchin, and Fergusson. Correspondence < read—From Mr & 1 , . Fleming, about water-table on Popple road. Clerk to report on road. A petitaoa was received from Henry Maraton and nine others asking the Board to erect » I culvert where the tfelwyn County Council takes the overflow from race across the road at Fergueeon'v. - Clerk to write to the Counoil about the matter. From. County Council, submitting a number of questions to the Board re weasels,. stoats,. and sparrows. ' The Board was unanimous against the liberating of weasels and stoats in the Canterbury provincial district. Clerk to answer the other question in circular. Clerk retorted that he had sent > telegram to Mr H. B. Johnston about land for xoad through Sheffield, and waited fourteen days, but got no reply. To provide against any miscarriage,, he then telegraphed to the officer in charge of tfce Tauaranga station enquiring if message was delivered, and received an answer that it was. The Clerk was instructed to advertise and deposit plan as provided by the Public Works Act, and call a special meeting of the Board when the required notice Bad been given,, so as to cause aa little delay as possible $ also to take steps to have land conveyed to Board front parties who had consented to give the land required. Certain repairs were ordered tobe executed and other work put. out by contract, several smell accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
