DISQUALIFICATION OF FRUIT.

TO THX KDITOB OF TH"H FBXSB. Sib,—l would esteem it a favour if you will allow mc to point out through the columns of your paper the injustice exhibitors suffer by a specification of the Christchurch Horticultural Society, which rune as follows:—"All pot plants, flowers and fruits must be named, but will not be disqualified it the names given prove to he incorrect. , ' My exhibit of fruit which the judges awarded first prize to was disqualified simply because I bad forgotten to name them; and I must confess my inability to correctly name all the varieties that I exhibited. And my opinion is that it would be better not to name at all than that the names given should prove to be incorrect. What could be more abeurd when, as one of the judges remarked, I might have named them '1 c Aro, Te Kooti, or the Codlin Black Prince, so as not to have been disqualified. I would euggest to the Committee that they should request all exhibitors to name their exhibits as far as they are able, and that the Committee should appoint a qualified man to go round prior to judging, and name all exhibits that have not been named, and not disqualify an exhibitor through an oversight from obtaining a well deserved prize. H. PUGH, Exhibitor for Captain Million.
